Global N-Acetylcysteine Market Dynamics

N-Acetylcysteine Market Driver

Growing Demand from The Health Industry

  • N-acetyl cysteine is an antioxidant that may help prevent cancer. It is a medication used by doctors to treat acetaminophen (Tylenol) toxicity. It acts by binding the toxic forms of acetaminophen produced in the liver. N-acetyl cysteine is often used to treat coughs and other respiratory diseases. It is also claimed to treat the flu, dry eyes, and a variety of other illnesses, although there is no scientific evidence to back up many of these claims. There is also no convincing evidence to support the use of N-acetyl cysteine in the treatment of COVID-19.

N-Acetylcysteine Market Restraint

N-Acetylcysteine Side Effects

  • N-acetylcysteine is well tolerated at doses of 1,200 mg twice daily or less. Side effects are uncommon at these doses; however, they may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, a brief skin rash, flushing, epigastric discomfort, and constipation. N-acetylcysteine is sometimes poorly tolerated at much higher dosages used to treat acetaminophen overdose, with adverse symptoms such as headache, tinnitus, urticaria, rash, chills, fever, and anaphylactoid responses (pseudoanaphylaxis). N-acetylcysteine greatly enhances the impact of nitroglycerin and similar drugs, and therefore should be used with caution in patients taking these treatments who are at risk of hypotension.
